Best Public Sector AI Agencies in Rome (September 2026)
5 Public Sector-specialized AI agencies based in Rome. Top-ranked: Babelscape, Marinuzzi & Associati, Almawave.
4 of the 5 agencies listed have documented Public Sector client work, verified against published case studies.
Government AI projects answer to procurement law, the EU AI Act, and the public record—constraints most agencies have never worked under. These firms build citizen-service assistants, case-handling automation, and document processing for administrations that must explain every automated decision. The EU AI Act puts many public-sector uses in its high-risk tier, which means documentation, human oversight, and transparency duties from day one. Relevant depth sits in AI Consulting for compliance-first scoping and AI Automation for administrative workflows.

Local Insight
Public Sector AI Agencies in Rome
Public-sector AI is what Rome is actually for, and this page is the strongest thing in the city. Marinuzzi & Associati names the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture and the national accountancy council CNDCEC—work at the top of the Italian state, delivered by a boutique. Babelscape built a multilingual semantic analyzer of trademark denominations for the EU Intellectual Property Office, which is European institutional work rather than national. Almawave is the scale entrant, an Almaviva subsidiary of around 450 people building language and speech systems for Italian public administration and healthcare, and a partner in the EU-funded VaMPiRE clinical consortium. Brain Computing delivers automation and learning platforms to training bodies. DMBI Consultants names Poste Italiane, Acea and Almaviva among its clients and publishes satellite object detection used for biodiversity monitoring and illegal waste detection.
Italian public procurement is slow, document-heavy and framework-driven, so a supplier that has already been through it is materially faster to contract than one that has not. Ask which route each engagement arrived by—tender, framework, direct award—and what the handover package contained. Then ask the EU AI Act question, which lands harder on public bodies than on private ones: which risk tier your use case falls into, and who inside the administration holds the human-oversight duty once the system is live.
