About this list

Zurich's retainer bench is institutional, and its documented AI is thinner than its client lists. Adnovum has the clearest operated system: Berna, the voicebot that takes Gebäudeversicherung Bern's claim calls in parallel during storm events at up to 2,700 a day and transcribes Swiss German dialect into structured claim files. The speech technology is Spitch's; Adnovum's part is the architecture, the Azure integration and the managed service. Squirro sells its own Insights Engine plus the engineering around it and names the European Central Bank, Standard Chartered and Henkel, where 45 or more data sources were unified into one knowledge layer. G+D Netcetera's published client names sit on payments and platform engagements; its AI material is an expertise article on RiSIC, a claims-classification system with no named sponsor.

For a Swiss buyer the retainer question is which vendor you would be calling in year two. With Adnovum the model layer belongs to a third party, so ask who supports it when the speech vendor changes a release, and note that Berna is limited today to storm and hail claims in German. With Squirro the retainer includes a license, so ask what happens to your knowledge graph if you stop paying it, and which line of the quote is license and which is delivery. With G+D Netcetera the acquisition means the contracting entity may not be the one you first meet, and the published AI is not yet a client engagement, so ask for one by name.

Expert Insight

Why retainer fit matters

1

Deployed AI degrades without an operator: models drift, prompts age and source data changes shape, so the question is not whether someone maintains the system but who, at what price and against which metrics.

2

A documented retainer is evidence the agency has run a system past launch, which a portfolio of delivered builds cannot show.

3

Continuity and dependency look identical in month one; the exit terms, ownership of pipelines and evaluation sets, and published operating metrics tell them apart.
